And you’ll be taught by research-active academics working in cutting-edge areas such as language and gender, formulaic language, corpus studies, bilingualism, bilingual processing and codeswitching. This combined programme of English Language and English Language teaching will give you an excellent grounding if you plan to teach English as a foreign language following postgraduate teacher training. Alternatively you could be teaching children in primary or secondary schools whose second language is English.

The Department of English Language Teaching at Istanbul Aydin University helps prospective English teachers build knowledge of content and methods of language teaching and educational sciences. It also provides many elective courses related with the culture of the target language. The Department of English Language Teaching aims to raise teachers who have acquired an advanced level of English proficiency as well as a high level of understanding of the knowledge and skills required for the language education field. Students are provided with a solid foundation in the English language and literacy, methodology, first and second language acquisition, educational sciences and linguistics in order to make them fully qualified teachers of English in primary, secondary and tertiary educational institutions.

This degree in English language and English language teaching explores the application of language alongside current practice and developments in teaching and testing. You will gain the skills and knowledge to design and produce materials for language lessons, and develop analytical and critical thinking skills.

Yeditepe offers supervision for our PhD English Language Teaching in a wide range of areas, including: vocabulary teaching, teaching reading and literacy development, writing pedagogy and academic writing, corpus-based pedagogy, teaching English to young learners, task-based language learning, language testing, classroom interaction, materials design and evaluation, teacher beliefs and teacher identity, and English for Academic Purposes, and computer-assisted language learning (CALL).
