AWM Educational Enterprise

Bilkent University

Bilkent University was founded on October 20, 1984 by İhsan Doğramacı (1915 – 2010) through the joint resolution of the İhsan Doğramacı Education Foundation, the İhsan Doğramacı Science and Research Foundation, and the İhsan Doğramacı Health Foundation. The aim was to create a center of excellence in higher education and research. The name “Bilkent” exemplifies the founder’s aim, since it is an acronym of bilim kenti Turkish for “city of science and knowledge.” The university is located in Turkey’s capital city of Ankara.

The PhD program aims to develop students into scientists who can pursue original and creative research activities.

 Electrical and Electronics Engineering

PhD programs focus on those fields which are heavily in demand worldwide. Current research areas are signal and image processing, electronics, optics, acoustics, electromagnetics, nanotechnology, robotics, telecommunications and networks, biomedical engineering, neuroscience, and system and control theory. The department emphasizes research with the support of excellent laboratories, computing facilities, and libraries.

Industrial Engineering

The objective of the PhD programs in the department is to conduct fundamental research in industrial engineering and operations research in accordance with scientific and technological developments, and to provide the students with a strong analytical basis for advanced theoretical work or for development of new approaches to applications.

Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department has strong research expertise in the areas of Acoustics and Noise Control, Computational Mechanics, Design, Dynamics and Control, Manufacturing, Microfluidics, Nanotechnology and Tribology and their applications to the aerospace, automotive and other industrial sectors.

The Ph.D. degree in philosophy is designed to develop an advanced understanding of philosophical problems, especially those in contemporary analytic philosophy and the history of philosophy.

The PhD program is tailored to build on the fundamentals to supply the students with the theoretical and practical skills in addition to pursuing original cutting-edge research throughout.

The aim of the program is to develop students into mathematicians who can pursue original and creative research. The program emphasizes research in pure and applied mathematics

Molecular Biology and Genetics

The PhD programs are organized to provide an excellent training in basic and applied research areas of molecular biology and genetics.

The Ph.D. program in the Department of Psychology is designed to build a strong, interdisciplinary background in theory and research in the psychological sciences. The programs focus on cognitive, social, personality, and evolutionary psychology, as well as neuroscience.

Computer Engineering

The Department of Computer Engineering offers M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs with the possibility of specialization in different areas of research in computer engineering
