The PhD program is lasted eight semesters and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters, regardless of whether the students enrolled for the program or not for each semester, starting from the period in which they are enrolled for the program with the master's degree, except for the time spent in the scientific preparation. The PhD program for those accepted with Bachelor's degree, is lasted ten semesters and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters.

The PhD in Public Law is designed to provide advanced training for outstanding graduate students who have already obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree or its equivalent. The PhD is a research-intensive degree that prepares graduates for opportunities in law teaching, legal research, policy development, public and governmental service, and the practice of law. The degree requirements include course work, comprehensive exams, a dissertation proposal and defence, a dissertation, and an oral dissertation exam. Working closely with a supervising faculty member, a student in the PhD program is expected to produce a book-length piece of original legal scholarship and of publishable quality.

‘Public Relations’ deals with topics such as event management, integrated marketing communications, lobbying, sponsorship, brand communications, crisis management, reputation management, corporate communications and social responsibility. ‘Advertising’, on the other hand, covers topics such as, copywriting, television advertising, advertising production, media planning, digital advertising, advertising photography and creative advertising. Department of Public Relations and Advertising of Istanbul Medipol University aims to graduate its students with the necessary skills as well as a broad understanding about ‘Public Relations’ and ‘Advertising’.
