Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation students, in the first years of their undergraduate education, obtain knowledge about anatomy, physiology, histology and kinesiology related to the structure and function of the human body as well as communication skills, ethics, critical thinking and behavioral sciences. Afterward, they receive theoretical and practical training in measurement, evaluation and treatment principles, electrotherapy, manual therapy, aquatherapy, exercise principles and orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, pediatrics, prosthesis-orthotics, geriatrics, rheumatology, women's and men's health rehabilitation.

Students will graduate with “Physiotherapist” title after 4 years of training if they are successful. Physiotherapist is a health personnel with professional autonomy who plans, implements, evaluates and reports the physiotherapy and rehabilitation program for developing function and functional capacity according to the diagnosis of the specialist doctor by determining the functional limitations, pain, disability and capabilities of the people with private measurement, evaluation and analysis methods in injury, illness, congenital disability, movement system disorders or the pain and dysfunction caused by other conditions, plans appropriate exercises, prevention programs for healthy people.

As a physiotherapist, you might treat children or adults. You might work in an NHS hospital, private practice, school or in industry. No matter the age of your patient or where you’re based, you’ll take a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. You’ll always involve your patient in their own care through education, awareness and empowerment. Whichever field of healthcare you work in, or the career path you hope to follow, we will help you to develop the skills you will need to shape and improve lives every day.

Istinye University, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, began its education life as a department affiliated to the Faculty of Health Sciences with the first students in 2016-2017. Our department, which has been offering 4 years of undergraduate education since its foundation, started to conduct graduate programs within the Institute of Health Sciences in 2017-2018

In order to improve the knowledge and skills of physiotherapists with undergraduate education, to increase evidence-based research activities in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, to take steps towards specialization in the profession, to advance the physiotherapy and rehabilitation education in Turkey at an internationally accepted level, to follow scientific and technological developments in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Adopting values, integrating their knowledge with clinical and scientific studies, able to reason clinically, applying the acquired knowledge and skills to complex and specific situations, solving problems, critically handling and evaluating information, adopting evidence-based practices, working in harmony within the group, being able to work in harmony with current research and scientific study methods.
