Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering is a new avenue in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering area with more emphasis on nanomaterials and nanotechnology. Materials Science and Nanotechnology Engineering (MSNE) education at Yeditepe University is based upon high-quality education and strong research program are the two essential factors that make a well established and strong department. Koç University Mathematics Department despite its relatively recent foundation became one of the main research centers in mathematics in Turkey. The department has 15 research mathematicians and an ever-increasing number of Ph.D. students. Thanks to its small size, there is a close interaction between faculty members, graduate students and undergraduate students. This is exhibited in the many topics and independent study courses offered to the undergraduate and graduate students by the faculty and the weekly tea hours and seminars where faculty interact with students creating a community that is inspiring for everyone involved.

The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to pursue research, to build an excellent undergraduate mathematics program, and to provide all undergraduate students at Işık University with high quality of teaching that will serve as a foundation for their careers. In this program, management and information technologies are taught in an interdisciplinary manner. The development and effective use of information systems to gain a competitive edge in the business world is a primary aim of the MIS program. To serve this purpose, computer science concepts (programming, web design, database management, etc.) and management concepts (economy, marketing, accounting, finance, etc.) are taught as core courses. Advanced courses, which serve to integrate these two fields, help students to grasp such systems as development, management information systems, e-business, and decision-making processes.

The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Mathematics consists of formal coursework, passing a qualifying exam, presentation of a dissertation proposal and successful defense of a dissertation. The program requires a minimum of 21 credit hours of coursework for students entering the program with a Master of Science degree or a minimum of 42 credit hours of coursework for students entering the program with a Bachelor of Science degree. Every PhD candidate must take a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework from graduate level MATH coded courses. Registration in any course requires advisor approval.
