The program aims to cultivate scholars who formulate and conduct original scientific research in the field of Architecture and sub-research areas such as History of Architecture, Theory and Criticism, Cultural Studies, Environmental Control and Building Technology, Building Information, Urban Design. The target of the program is to provide students with basic theoretical approaches and accumulation of knowledge in the field of architecture and the listed sub-research areas at international, national and local scales. The students will gain the ability to conduct independent research, to interpret the scientific events with a broad perspective and to determine the necessary steps to reach new syntheses.

The undergraduate program of Architecture is four-year and has a four-year training period, consisting of eight semesters based on the system of passing the courses. The department requires a high level of basic mathematics, geometry and an interest in visual arts and philosophy. The program offers in-depth information in four main fields, i.e. architectural design and construction knowledge, history of architecture, control of physical environment and construction technologies, project and production management.The undergraduate program of architecture gives technical education on the design of any sort of construction, fittings of venues, production of the objects likely to be needed by the users, planning and coordination of the construction process. In this program, the students are taught to run after personal development based on art and culture lifelong and, in this way, to solve the professional problems they face.

Our curriculumn in the Department of Architecture is based on the cutting edge trends of the 21st century architecture education. Studio education is in the core of our program and it is supported by technical, computer-based, theoretical and history courses. Students have the opportunity to participate in many workshops, exhibitions, conferences, and field trips that are organized by the school.The location of our university, Izmir, as the birth place of Antiquity, provides immense opportunities to understand the history of architecture from ancient times to contemporary era.

The courses in the master's program emphasize the relationship between architecture and other disciplines as well as associating contemporary theories and critiques with architectural production. The program aims to produce research that reflects the development of the discipline on a global level, especially from specific local contexts. It is aimed that the graduates take active role as experts who can play a role in the new formation of the profession.

Not to mention you'll combine it all with paid co-op work experience. However, the core of pre-professional program is design courses, starting right in year one. You’ll get your own dedicated space in our studio where you’ll develop your ideas and skills through a series of hands-on projects.
